3 Week Recap

I haven't posted for awhile because a lot has been happening and I kind of was waiting for when it all settled down again. This is a time to take a breather and look back over the past few weeks and take stock.

It is no coincidence that I'm breaking my blog-freeze on the same day that author Hunter S. Thompson has committed suicide. While I am not devastated by this news, I am surprised and a little angry at him. This man was successful, beloved and had a unique voice in history - to achieve just one of those things would seem reason enough to find value in your life. It's as if he just gave up which to me tarnishes his career. But anyways, his work has affected me over the years and also provided a tangible link back to a time where you were eternally young, innocent and without obligation. To read his work you would think that the world turned on an entirely different axis 40 years ago.

This past week I went to Atlantic City and gambled for the first time. Besides knocking back Amaretto sours and making some good money on double exposure blackjack, I also had to do something difficult which was to tell the truth to someone who didn't like what I had to say. I hung out with Andy who's on break from Quantico, went to a Latin Jazz concert at the National Gallery with Amy AND knocked back some beers in Bethesda with Akshay. Now it seems that a few more friends will be visiting and the DC Kappa Sigs will be finding a house within the disctrict. To say that I love this city would be a terrific understatement.
